Format:  

Online learning and short practical face to face assessment​

​

Duration: Online learning (video and short multiple choice quiz) 3-4 hours.  Practical assessment on the day 2 hours.

Overview:

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. Includes management of asthma and anaphylaxis.​

​

Recommended for:

Parents, grandparents, family and anyone looking after children. Also required by all staff working within the childcare industry.​

 

Entry requirements: 

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins. Online learning component must be completed prior to practical assessment. 

 

Pre-course study:  

Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study:  

Students must have access to a computer, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

​

Assessment requirements:

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Outcome: 

Students will receive a nationally recognised certificate as statement of attainment for the units of competency achieved 

HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid

HLTAID012 - Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

 

Certificates:

Certificate  usually issued same day!

 

Renewal requirements:

Certificates will require renewal after 36 months (Please note HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is required to be renewed after 12 months.)​
